Bilaterally deaf and blind in his left eye, Xander sees and hears better than any other dog I have ever known. I am so grateful for Xander.
Today I am grateful for:
- frozen water hoses - my horses, goats, and chickens will have fresh, clean water when the sun shines on the pasture in a couple of hours;
- that build-up of brownish slime in the toilet bowl - it means I have indoor plumbing that has been well used and works;
- my hands - although crippled from osteoarthritis, they are still attached to my arms and can clean the aforementioned toilet (yes, I just cleaned the toilet);
- a one-toilet home (see above);
- a sink full of dirty dishes - my family has food and colorful Fiestaware from which to eat it;
- the lengthy, steep walk to the mailbox - without that hike, my ass & thighs would be twice as big as they are now;
- unwanted, disposable, special needs animals and their irresponsible people - without them, my life would be boring, empty, without meaning or purpose, and without such amazing animal love.
Every day I am grateful for:
- my beautiful, brilliant, hilarious, interesting children - without whom I would have nothing;
- my home and property - without which I would be homeless or living in a small apartment, listening to people through thin walls either having sex, manufacturing meth, or screaming at each other (or possibly all three);
- my friends - without whom I would feel lost and alone; you know who you are and you help guide, support, and encourage me every day, even when we do not talk.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY XAN-MAN !!
I am grateful for friends like you
Down right RIGHT ON. Thankful for only one toilet and that it actually works!
Just love it! I’ve tagged back at ya!
And I am so grateful for both of you. Funny enough, I get to meet BOTH of you this summer! I c-a-n-n-o-t wait for summer! Susan, who are you bringing to the SMR annual meeting? Dean, are you bringing Ivan the Wonderful? Maybe I will kidnap Susan and keep her here for a couple of weeks after the SMR meeting so she can join the Rescues-Only Camp-Out? Man, my mind works in mysterious ways, doesn’t it?
Deanie-beanie, the X-Man says, “Thank you” and sends you a big, wet, leaning, slobbery Great Dane kiss.
Susan, you can use and flush and brown-up my one toilet in my house throughout the entire weekend of the SMR meeting. Just don’t tell anyone … You are special!
I wont be making the meeting and now I really feel awful… I am moving to Colorado end of June and need to save my money for the move. Also the flight pass I had will not be going to the PNW, so I have no flight now.
I so wish I could come meet you guys! And I would try to stay too for your Rescues Only - Camp Out.
Please know that I am so sorry to miss this opportunity with you guys and Simrat.
Now I must be off to dry my eyes.
